Cultivating Founders & Business Ideas in the Biggest Telco Company
corporate training
As the number of startups rose in the past 5 years, Telkomsel took initiative by creating an innovative idea competition to discover potential ideas from internal employees. Started with “InnoXtion Transformation Program”, a program to invite Telkomsel founders to come up with their best ideas and innovation. It is revamped to become Tinc Polaris Ideation 2022.
Prior to the ideas and innovation competition, Tinc Polaris Telkomsel collaborated with lingkaranx to prepare a program to find the best founders among Telkomsel employees (T-Flyers). This program was designed to get prospective founders who have Founder's Mentality values (Insurgency, Front Line Obsession, Owner Mindset). Then, the selected founders will be selected whether they are suitable to be among the 3H Capabilities (Hacker, Hipster, Hustler).
Strengthening the right mentality for a solid ground
This program is then designed in various stages to find the 15 best founders among T-Flyers. They were starting from various stages of selection and continuing with the Master Class Program. Through the Masterclass Program, participants are invited to learn about materials that support the realization of the best founder, namely: Founder's Mentality, Startup Founder, 3H Capabilities & Coaching sessions.
During the program, participants were given an intense learning experience with experts or professionals in their fields to learn firsthand about the related fields to be able to produce the best abilities for the “Top 15 Founders”. Finally, the selected founders created an output, namely “Making a Presentation Deck” which they submitted to a follow-up program from Tinc Polaris, namely Polaris Ideation 2022. This program managed to gather 186 best ideas from Telkomsel employees.
The initial step of this program begins with a series of Campaign Awareness consisting of 4 sessions. After that, the Telkomsel Business Development team along with internal and external expert judges selected the 10 best ideas to take part in the 5-day Masterclass to finalize the ideas further.
Selecting the best Ideas from the expert's point of view
In the Master lass, participants were given different yet related class topics to help each other realize their ideas later. The class is guided by expert practitioners and founders of technology businesses in Indonesia. Such as Dina Dellyana who is Director of The Greater Hub and Business Incubator of SBM ITB, Heinrich Vincent the young founder and CEO of Bizhareid, to Kanta Nandana who is active as Director of Antler Indonesia as a global venture capital focused on early-stage funding and many more.
The Polaris Ideation Master Class learning process is also designed with the concept of gamification learning so that participants become engaged and interactive with the learning process. On the 4th and 5th day, each team received training from a designated coach which to help them to revamp the ideas and to prepare participants for their pitching session.
At the end of the Master Class series, participants created a live presentation on Pitching Day in front of internal and external judges. This stage announced the 3 best ideas to be able to get Recognition from the Telkomsel BoD ranks at the Polaris Ideation 2022 Awarding Day event.
After the Awarding Day event, the three best teams will undergo an incubation period of 6-12 months together with the Telkomsel Business Development team bringing their ideas to a realization into a more mature plan and be able to carry out their business concept even better. Through this program, the BoD of Telkomsel hoped that employees could create brilliant innovations to positively impact the company as a solutive and innovative digital telecommunications company in today's digital era.
